Some International Incoming calls ring for less than a second and then go to voicemail

When I receive calls from some US based tech support companies, my phone rings for less than a second before it goes to voicemail. This has been the case for at least 2 different android phones that I've had and was never a problem with my previous provider (Virgin). If I manage to answer immediately (i.e. less than half a second after it starts ringing) the call goes through fine. Otherwise it goes to my voicemail. All other incoming calls seem to be fine and outgoing calls are all fine.

Interestingly, there is this "variable" feature shown in this knowledge base that seems to cover the same thing. Give one or both a try and see if it helps.

Thanks Will13am. Unfortunately, The Telus option of *94 says it's not in service when I try it and the "variable" in the public mobile article seems to refer to forwarding to another phone number. Also, the description says "Redirects incoming calls after the call has not been answered for a specified period of time", but it doesn't seem to have an option for specifying the length of time when I try it.

I found this, but it seems that it was already set to the maximum of 30 seconds.
