Right, what was the second half if not the bulk of my reply? Wifi

1. Airplane Mode OFF--- any signals? out of the box, if the answer is no, phone is a dud
2. Signals - type router password carefully and log in. nothing? have them log in at the point of purchase. maybe a bad phone
3. WPS button on router log into inet that way easiest way (make sure WPS is activated on Router usually 192.168.0.1 to log into RG from a browser. type RG password enable WPS if disabled.

Best to make sure everything works on the phone, I agree! Those are three solid tips (#2 being the best) Sometimes some phones are duds, probably the one's made on Friday afternoon 😉

To add to what @softech has already stated above...

There's conflicting information about whether the ZTE Blade L8 even supports a single band that the PM network runs on. According to the following source, this particular phone does not support the 1900MHz Band 2 on the HSDPA 3G network:

https://www.gsmarena.com/zte_blade_l8-9714.php

It's quite possible that this device is entirely incapable of working on any cellular network in Canada.

Right,

Signal and Data are intimately related, proper APN settings are paramount to proper functionality.

Wifi is a totally different matter which requires no SIM card. Hard resetting a phone is a useless endeavour and bad advice. From my experience at AT&T 99% of the time the password is wrong, the router is MAC filtered or the cell is too far away from the signal.

Repairing a perfectly good phone is not a proper course of action, and saying "maybe I should have got that" also bad. Just saying, all the suggestions I have seen SIM slot 1 and 2 etc are nonsense mine works fine from Slot 2 as it is correctly configured with no hard resets. ; )

regards

This thread isn't related to the use of data. It's about not being able to connect to the network at all. Making changes to APN setings will not help in this situation.
