I am not sure about the receiving calls from the US or China if you don't have a long distance package. But you should have Data throughout Canada as well as text messaging. I am sure someone will chime in with an answer on the US/China receiving calls.

Hi everybody! I have recently switched from Fido over to Public Mobile. I was just wondering about the fineprint for the Fall 2016 Promo plans as I didn't find them on the website. I am located in British Columbia

1. Do I have data coverage throughout Canda? so say that I visit somewhere outside of BC like Alberta or Ontario, will I still be able to use my Data? I understand that I wont be able to make calls and that's okay. The website only says "Data" not Canada-wide data or such.

2. If I am in my home province and receive a call from USA or China, would I still be able to receive it without extra charge?

Basically I am wondering how Public Mobile compares to Fido so I know what to expect in the future. I appreciate all the help! Thanks

Yes, data is available Canada wide regardless of your home province.

2. Yes you can receive calls from anywhere in the world while you are in your home province.

Somewhere I read that once you exit your home province, all reception will be cut off. But by judging from the response, it seems this is not the case?

@bbdata So just to confirm, if travel outside my province I will need to buy add-on's for talk, but not for data and text? So it's not much different from Fido then!

@piepie That is correct, when you are outside your home province, you will not receive incoming calls.

Regarding the addon, be mindful, there's two kinds:

If you travel to another province within Canada, yes, data and texting will continue to work. But you will need an in Canada addon for talk.

If you travel to the US, talk, text and data will not work. You will need to buy a US roaming addon.
