If a damaged Sim card needs to be replaced, can it be replaced with the same number as the damaged original Sim card and what would the cost be?

@Demas11 you can get a new SIM for around $10 . Once you got the new SIM, go to My Account and click Change SIM card. The same phone number will be moved to the new SIM

why you think your SIM is broken? Faulty sim is rare , although it happens

You replace your sim card in your account. It will transfer your phone number, account and services to the new sim card but you will then have a new sim card number but the # will still start with 8912230000XXXXXXXXX. PM had half price sim cards on sale for $5 and a BOGO free offer. Or they are currently on offer at Canadian Cell Supplies for $4.

How To Change Your SIM Card

follow the below steps:

Log into your My Account
Go to Plan and Add-Ons > Change SIM Card
Enter your new SIM card number
Select where you would like your 6-digit security verification code to be sent to. You can choose to have the code sent to your email, please select the email option.
Check your email or phone for your security code, and input the code into the page
Click “Verify Code”

Please note: after 5 failed attempts to verify your security code, your account will be locked, and you will need to have your account unlocked and your SIM card manually updated by an agent by submitting a ticket Here link,.

Once you have verified your code, click “submit” to complete your SIM card change, and you’re all set!

Just go the London Drugs, Walmart or Loblaw Cell store and get a free SIM and activation then port your old number to the new SIM.

@BKNS27 - I think you are suggesting for the OP to activate a NEW Public Mobile SIM card? But they don't need to do this...?

@Demas11 - if your current Public Mobile SIM card is damaged, then yes you can obtain a new Public Mobile SIM card from retail location, Public Mobile online, amazon, CCS for prices averaging $5-10.

You do NOT need to activate the SIM card, but you will need to perform a SIM SWAP on your Self Serve account from the OLD # to the NEW SIM number, under the Change Sim Card option. This will ensure you have the same phone number and keep your current account/available funds/rewards.

This was a "What if?" situation .... the way the sim cards are manufactured to fit many different styles of phones, sometimes the containing edges become damaged and the cards are almost impossible to align properly..

Sometimes a paper shim or a carefully placed piece of tape can secure sim card with cosmetic damage only.
