thats good to know. thats why I stick with Pixel phones at least its guaranteed security fixes and updates for a certain amount of year (2-3years i think).

before using Pixel phone, i made sure that the phone I am buying has custom ROM support (CyanogenMod / LineageOS). i used Xperia and Asus and they both support custom ROM extending the life of the phone in terms of updates.

Not a bad article but, as usual, the real information is in the comment section. Suffice to say, the fear mongering over an older device, is a bit much. Don't side load unvetted apps, stay off unsecure networks, and almost all of those "issues" disappear.
