@iPhoneUser wrote:
Since when wouldn't a PHONE have email settings!?!?!?!?!

You have to already have access to a working email client to sign up with Public Mobile.

Smartphones do always have built-in always-online email apps these days. Added convenience for those who can't be bothered with browser webmail, and integrated into realtime system notifications, but otherwise just more running background services (and telemetry) which adds no real user functionality. These softwares do need to be correctly configured, and they can usually lookup reference settings anyhow, but manual control is provided for those (unusual) instances when autoconfigured defaults aren't good enough.

Also the page you linked is not dedicated specifically to phones. All sorts of devices (computers, consoles, televisions, toasters, refrigerators, roombas, etc) may need to configure email services.
