Fyi the best experience I've ever had with a US provider was mint mobile, I will always have a public mobile service and a mint mobile service and if your are having issues with any current US provider, look into fonus, they were great when I traveled and for reliable data during low altitude domestic flights.

Thanks for your insight as well, I'm going to research about this to ensure I haven't given you any bad advice that doesn't suit your circumstances, good luck 🙂

I know there are a few here but it's been a while since I've had the conversation.

Just wondering if any PM brethren currently use or in the past used an eSIM with Public Mobile and had a TextNow SIM card in the same phone??? And if so, what was your experience.

I'm considering using an eSIM with Public Mobile and making it my primary and just leave my TextNow physical SIM card in the slot as my secondary. This way when I go to the US, it just automatically works. Logically, this sounds right. So, any feedback would be awesome.

Thanks.
CB.

I can't confirm about the eSIM and SIM because my iPhone 8 doesn't have eSIM and only 1 SIM tray but I can't see it as being an issue but report back on your experience. I will give it a try on my Samsung S22 but with the tariff issue I am not planning to go to the USA anytime soon.

A friend who winters in Florida does that.

This is exactly what I do on my moto g 5g and other two phones, and it really meets my needs perfectly and doesn't cause any conflict with my apps or contacts.

It's way better than carrying two phones like I used to... And also text now is a decent carrier depending on your needs so I see no issues, good luck!

I actually went a different route and am using a US telco which is dirt cheap with an eSIM and using my PM SIM card on my iPhone. It's a great transition when crossing the US border. I did find though when I was about half a click from the US border, it turned over to my US provider. That was awesome!

I just have the TextNow free number.

Just FYI, I was able to use the TextNow number to make and receive toll-free calls to and from Canada while I was in Japan. I used either free available wifi or a paid ubigi mobile data esim while out in the streets. I could not make toll-free local calls in Japan, but I would not understand Japanese anyways.
