Quoting a post

I seem to have started some threads that have gotten a few replies, but when I am trying to reply to them, I get a bit lost.

Is there a way to quote a specific message in a thread? I can quote, but it adds everything and then I have to go through it and delete everything outside of the message.

I can't seem to get this to work on mobile, but on a computer, click on the 3 dots to expand the task bar in the reply to box. You should see quotes that can be used to quote the post you are trying to reply to.

That is the same thing I said in the original post:

Your only option would be to copy and paste the portion you want to quote and add the member. Its not ideal but at least you can quote.

@johnprince I think you are doing the only thing that can be done. It is what many members here are probably already doing.

OH, and that copy/paste 4 liner at the bottom of that post above about contacting customer support is quite unnecessary for this question, so you can safely ignore it.

Your only option would be to copy and paste the portion you want to quote and add the member. Its not ideal but at least you can quote. If I do that, then it is not a quote and can be easily confused as something I typed. You are correct, it is NOT ideal.

That's a terrible thing to have to have a workaround for.

That was directed to my query? I just thought that was the signature of that user. Not something I would contact customer support about.

If you only want a portion of something you could copy and paste and then put italicize and/or bold it.. And Vern space it and put it in quotes so as not to leave any question or to confuse anyone

You could do what I just did. A member are other customers responding to you in this forum. Just use the @key and you'll see a list of other users in this conversation and then click the one you are responding to.

@johnprince - only Oracles have the ability to add signatures to posts, no one else. That was an intentional copy/paste of information and space.

type the 'AT SYMBOL = @' then you will see other members names populate in the thread, this is tagging someone.

You can also tag anyone not included in the thread if you know their username.

edit - you just did it with @dabr , i just realized!! hahaha

click the Reply button..when new envelope opens type the @ and you'll see a list of contributors to your question. Click the name you'd like to respond to.

Which is to copy and paste for partial quote and then put that part in quotation marks and you can add @johnprince wrote: at the beginning of that part? You did say you could quote the entire message but wanted to quoted only smaller more relevant part right?

Oh I get your question...click the reply button of the person you want to quote from their post. Then when you hit the quote icon their post will be quoted.
