I think the right to give kudos/bravos should be restricted to members only. Guests could then only post questions and comments. This is to reduce the tempation to game the Community Reward system as seems to have happened a few times.

I like the idea of preventing people from gaming the system, but how do you distinguish members from guests?

Member has a sign in linked to a PM account... guest is any random person (public forums, everyone has access to view)

To me, guest means users without the community account and members who have the community account.

I know what you mean though. You are calling guest as someone who has the community account, but their email is not linked with self-serve account.

I was confused a bit, but I know now. It's a good idea.

Yes, @NDesai, that's what I meant.

I think that UNLESS you're a PM Client, Guests should be LIMITED in what they can do in Community, to avoid this kind of thing

Hey... when I was lurking around before becoming a PM subscriber, and community member, I was a guest, and I would hit the Bravo button when I saw something that helped me make my decision to move to Public Mobile.

Maybe make the guest Bravo not count to rewards / badges / etc... but still let a guest acknowledge a post that helped them out.

@Luddite I originally had same idea after last months issues but as @stonechucker points out there could be some genuine newbies who bravo peoples posts (and some of those bravos will seem odd to us since we do not understand why)

It also hurts the brand new poster asking for help (as system stands now, newbie asks for help, couple people offer it, and newbie usually hands out alot of bravo once issue resolved)

The other issue with "gaming" is it could still be relatively simple; eg I refer 5 people to Public and since I know them we all make an agreement to boost each others bravo counts

I know bravo alone does not equate to top posters (eg I am in 12th but got the top 0.5% last reward) but it is the easiest / most visible metric

The only way around this is really for ranked individuals (oracles and mods) to vote monthly on top posters or something

Or to take other side of coin

Instead of needing to do so much work, allow a mod or oracle to veto someone's ranking if they suspect it was fraudulantly obtained

@Luddite hmm it got worse

See the 3 month free Netflix promo?

Not to be suspicious but 3 brand new posters who all registered and posted within 10 minutes of each other makes me think one person tried to win 9 months free service (3x3)

Hmm
