There are a small number of accounts who are very obviously trying to boost their community reward, by responding to EVERY SINGLE THREAD, often with incorrect (or completely unrelated) information.  It would be nice if there was a way to report said people, on the account level, as they actually often make things worse by confusing the issue completely. Either that, or have an option added to the "report post" page so that we can easily report these spammy comments. These forums can only be as useful as the people contributing on them, and a small number of accounts that regularly give out incorrect, or even just flat out irrelevant, information just results in clutter and frustrated end users.

I couldn't agree more.  It really detracts from the community to see this happening.

@WearySky kind of an ironic request no? You have quite a few posts in past couple of months

This ties more in with a better idea to give negative bravos

The issue at hand is even though you think their response is incorrect/irrelevant does not necessarily make it so

And on that same line there are tons of "me too" threads where everyone posts as early as they can hoping people will bravo thier posts

Great idea.

Also, we don't need 3-4 times an almost identical response to a request... (except if they are posted almost at the same time, which is involuntary, but when posted more than 5 minutes apart, you really don't need to repeat what someone else just said...). If you have something different to say, go for it, but don't add something that was said already (like "how to contact the mods").

Agree with posts above and the idea.  I have also noticed where a thread becomes a conversation between a couple of people and each post is getting bravo'd

Could not agree more!

Several people who im sure all have noticed, will answer a question 20 minutes later that was already responded to with the exact same correct answer.  Understood this happens occassionally within 1 minute of each other, but 20 minutes later is very clear.

Additionally people offering "advice" which doesn't help the root cause, jsut a generic answer used all the time.

Not implying anything, but ironically this idea gave you your "5 ideas" badge! 😉

@kav2001c yup, I have absolutely posted quite a bit... But as much as I can these days, I try to avoid "me too" posting of an answer that has already been given (unless my "me too" is to add some information that hasn't been included yet, or correct some misinformation given).  Though there's been an occasional time I've opened up a new thread in my browser to respond, and then forgotten to refresh it an hour or two later and continued writing out my thought.  As an example, I don't even bother opening up "activation failed" threads these days, most of the time, as unless it was JUST posted my assumption is that somebody has already come in and said "contact a mod, only they can help you".  Though I will pop in occasionally to say "and THIS is why we can't have another promo yet", for a laugh 🙂  Most of my activity in the forums these days is giving opinions on threads that are either conversation threads, or threads that have turned *into* conversation threads. 🙂

And you're right, just because I don't think it's relevant, doesn't mean it's not relevant... But there's some pretty obvious cases of things from these accounts that are COMPLETELY unrelated to the OP's problem.

Folks, if anyone is concerned that someone is trying to "game" or manipulate the community reward, you can express your concern via private message to the @CS_Agent and they can investigate.

I think in most cases people are just enthusiastic and happen to have a little more time on their hands and are jumping in to try to be helpful.  Note that the community rankings are not based solely on number of postings or bravos, there's more to the [proprietary] system than that, we have been assured.  There have been cases of people creating more than 1 account and using it to try to game the system, and when reported to the moderators the situation was dealt with.  So if you do have concerns, as I mentioned, please do send a private message.

@srlawren I don't think they're necessarily trying to "game" the system, but I think THEY think that if they respond to every single thread, they will improve their score.  I think they might *also* genuinely thing they are helping, but either a language barrier or just "rushing to be one of the first to respond" is resulting in their contributions being... Less than helpful.
