I recently joined Public mobile and made a 'custom' account which included the 300 minute of International calls.  I am visiting from Australia (second time here using Public Mobile) and travel each year to Canada.  I chose the International calling 'add on' for the explicit reason of calling family/friends in Australia.  I was disappointed to find when I tried to make a call I heard a recorded message which told me that my account wasn't set up to make international calls.  I checked my account and found that it was.  I then went onto the self help community and found a list of the countries where International calls could be made.  To my surprise Australia was not on the list!  I would have thought that as Australia and Canada have close ties and that there are numerous Australians here (and also resident Canadians) that would call Australia that it would have been one of the main countries that it was possible to call.  I suggest that there is a list attached to that purchase tab for the International calls where all countries able to be call are shown.  As far as I could see there was nothing of this kind on the web site other than within the 'community'.  Subsequently I paid an extra $15 for nothing!

@bhoffo, I would try cotacting a od and see if they can give you a refund/ credit.  not sure but it is always worth a shot.  Does australia have any free voip apps?  we have one called fongo, give you a free canadian number.  maybe your loved ones could install it on their phone that way they can call you and you can call them. othervise vibre and whatsapp/skype  have voice calling....

Hi @bhoffo!

Sorry to hear about your troubles.  I agree, it will help simplify things if the list of countries pops up right at the point of sale before one goes ahead and pays for the long distance add-on.   Also, Australia and a few more countries should be added to that list ... the long distance list has not seen a change in several years.

I also recommend you try @mimmo's suggestion of contacting a community moderator via a private message.

I thought I saw this on the addon plan section of the website (not in my account) but seems to have disapearred...

This would be usefull to have, even just a list in the footnotes what is covered.

@bhoffoI am sorry for the trouble. If Australia was included in the 18 countries (which it should in my opinion) you would also need to have a talk plan activated with your sim card. Which means that an add on alone will not work without a talk feature.

PM should be more clear during the activation and account creation phase. I didn't even know it was limited to 18 countries until now.

Hey @bhoffo,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for sharing your experience!

I truly understand how you feel in regards to this - purchasing an add-on, but not being able to call the country you want. Rest assured that I want to make this right for you, therefor feel free to send me a private message including your phone number. We'll see what suitable options we have for you 🙂

Respectfully,

Mary

Thanks for all the responses and suggestions.  I have contacted the PM moderators and I will possibly receive a credit on my account when I return to Canada next year and purchase another SIM. I do hope that PM does provide a list of countries able to be called in the near future on their web site to prevent this type of problem occurring to other users of the service.

Cheers

Bruce
