I love public mobile, but I had to dig into the internet and find people's opinions for the best Canadian wireless provider. I had never heard of public mobile. I feel the company needs to send out pamphlets or something, maybe just screenshot the good reddit reviews, encourage people to look up reviews, they will trust your lesser known company when they read the glowing reviews for themselves

I only found out about public mobile because my cousin liked their facebook page, so i saw the ads during the 4gb/$120 promo days. If i never found that ad, i probably woulnt be here. They do advertise on social media networks, but its all based on reach. The more people that like them and share their posts. The more brand awareness they get.

Its harder for them because they are a "no-frills" provider, and all the service is done online. Maybe i could help them with the social media marketing course I took during schoolSmiley Wink

@Nicholas255 word of mouth seems to be the primary way people learn about PM.  To be honest, I forget how I first heard about them.  Possibly from a story on MobileSyrup?  I'm not sure any more!  But if you want to get the word out, let your friends and family and colleagues know.  🙂  Plus if they enter your phone number as referral number when activating, you'll save $1/30 days or $3/90 days for each one of them, as long as they are active customers.  So, win-win!  🙂

Yeah I have already converted one of my friends, not hard after you describe the system.  And I will certainly try to convert more! It's a lot of fun seeing how much you can reduce your plan costs by, kudos to the pm development team for their strategy!

It is likely that Telus allowed Public Mobile pocket lint and buttons for the advertising budget. In shopping discussions, we always say word of mouth is the best advertisement. It is a lot cheaper for us to shill the Public Mobile service. We do participate in the savings.

@will13am quite the generous budget, no?  🙂

More advertising = higher costs.  I'm quite happy spreading the word via word of mouth if it means my plan costs stay low. 🙂

Agree with @will13am. I found out about PM in my (seemingly endless) internet search for an alternative to other Prepaid options (I also refuse to "do" cell phone contracts...) and it took me quite a while to actually take the leap. I feel that that time would have been shortened by a couple of months (!) had I heard about PM through word-of-mouth. If a friend with similar needs is happy with the service of a company, and it generally ties in with my research, I tend to act on that review rather than paid advertising. Just my 2 cents, of course.

And yes, @WearySky, lets keep the advertising cost low to keep the plan prices low!

Advertisement is akin to paying someone to brainwash you. Back in the day, advertising was somewhat essential. Today with the internet, it's a bit of a relic.
